In February 2025, the partners of the European project LUB – Let Us Be officially met for the first time during the online kick-off meeting, marking the operational start of a journey aimed at promoting gender equality in grassroots sport.
The meeting represented a crucial moment of alignment, allowing all partner organisations to come together, share expectations, and define a common vision for the months ahead.

A shared vision from the very beginning
The kick-off meeting opened with an in-depth presentation of the project’s objectives, structure, and expected impact. Partners had the opportunity to explore the core philosophy of Let Us Be: supporting sports associations in questioning existing practices and actively working towards more inclusive and equitable environments.
A strong emphasis was placed on the importance of addressing gender stereotypes not only at a theoretical level, but through concrete, practical actions within everyday sports settings.
Roles, responsibilities and timeline
A key part of the meeting was dedicated to defining roles and responsibilities among partners, ensuring a clear and efficient division of tasks.
The consortium discussed:
the overall project timeline and key milestones;
the development of the consultancy model for sports associations;
the structure and content of the educational booklet;
communication and dissemination strategies to maximise the project’s reach.
This moment of coordination was essential to guarantee a shared understanding of processes and deliverables, as well as to establish effective collaboration methods among partners.
Building the consultancy pathway
One of the central topics of the meeting was the design of the consultancy pathway that will be offered to sports associations.
Partners exchanged ideas and perspectives on how to make the process:
accessible and easy to implement;
adaptable to different types of organisations;
practical and results-oriented.
The discussion laid the groundwork for the development of tools such as anonymous questionnaires, evaluation frameworks, and activity sheets that will guide associations step by step.
Communication and dissemination strategy
The consortium also addressed the importance of communication in ensuring the project’s impact.
Partners agreed on a shared approach to storytelling and dissemination, focusing on:
clear and accessible language;
consistent visual identity;
regular updates through websites and social media;
engagement of local communities and stakeholders.
The goal is not only to inform, but to inspire sports organisations across Europe to reflect and take action.
A strong start for a meaningful journey
Although held online, the kick-off meeting was characterised by active participation, constructive dialogue, and a strong sense of shared purpose.
It marked the beginning of a collaborative process that aims to generate tangible change within sports associations, promoting environments where everyone can feel respected, represented, and free to express themselves.
With solid foundations now in place, the LUB – Let Us Be project is ready to move forward, turning ideas into actions and contributing to a more inclusive future for sport.
