After months of research, workshops, and international collaboration, the UP Project—co-funded by the European Union—has officially released its full set of educational materials designed to challenge the culture of pressure in youth sport.
Our goal was clear: provide coaches, sports associations, and families with practical tools to foster healthy, respectful, and inclusive environments where young athletes can thrive—without the fear of judgment or failure.
The result is the “Under Pressure” method, a three-part guide built around the core challenges that young athletes face today. Each chapter explores a specific dimension of pressure in sport and offers both theoretical insights and practical solutions:
Chapter 1: Sport Perfectionism and Risks for Young People – A deep dive into how perfectionism and unrealistic expectations can damage motivation and lead to early dropout.
Chapter 2: Great Coaches: The Steps to Follow – A hands-on guide to adopting positive coaching styles, giving effective feedback, and creating emotionally safe training environments.
Chapter 3: Not All of Us Are Champions – A reflection on the role of parents in sport, highlighting the importance of balanced support and the educational value of sports beyond winning.

These chapters are available as downloadable PDFs from the official project website and are supported by additional materials like printable graphics, practical exercise sheets, and a powerful advocacy video that spreads awareness about the hidden harms of performance pressure.
The UP project is more than a publication. It’s a call to action for those who believe that sport should be a source of joy, growth, and resilience. It’s an invitation to coaches, parents, and youth workers across Europe to join us in building safer, more human-centered sports communities.
