The inaugural meeting of the EVEN(t)4US project unfolded in Rome from May 9th to May 12th, 2023, marking the commencement of a transformative journey funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The first day centered on introducing the project and delving into its primary objective — promoting the educational role of sports associations in the realm of gender equality. Participants formed working groups, engaging in thoughtful discussions on gender, sexual orientation, stereotypes, and prejudices. These discussions unearthed prevalent stereotypes within family, educational, and, notably, sports environments. Working groups brainstormed potential solutions, highlighting the impediments that stereotypes pose to recognizing the unique qualities of individuals.
📅 Day Two: Navigating Sports Careers and Crafting Event Excellence.
The second day spotlighted the diverse career opportunities inherent in the sports industry, extending far beyond the realm of athletes. Participants were enlightened about roles ranging from coaching and management to marketing and media, underscoring the industry's potential for a fulfilling and rewarding career path. Despite persisting barriers for women, the sports industry welcomes individuals of all genders, and young enthusiasts can find numerous career paths with the right skills and qualifications.
Following this exploration, participants were tasked with envisioning a sports event to be held at the Sparta Pugilato gymnasium in December. Their 12-point plan for successful event organization covered crucial aspects such as defining objectives, choosing the venue, setting the date, planning the budget, obtaining necessary authorizations, arranging accommodation, ensuring security, promoting the event, preparing equipment, coordinating staff, managing the event, and evaluating results.
