BULL...SH! Project: Building Inclusive Communities through Sports




The BULL...SH! project stands as an innovative initiative the European Union co-financed to counter bullying in team sports. This endeavour results from collaboration among various associations, each contributing a unique perspective to create a comprehensive framework for addressing and preventing bullying in sports environments. Partnership Overview:

The project brings together a diverse group of organizations, with ASD Tufello serving as the coordinator. Let's delve into the key contributions of each partner:

  1. A.S.D. Tufello Combat: Established in 2012, A.S.D. Tufello Combat is a beacon of social welfare in Rome. Rooted in the Tufello district, the association promotes values of solidarity, education, and mutual aid. With a broad spectrum of sports offerings, including Kickboxing, Full Contact, and Artistic Gymnastics, it engages over 200 members spanning various age groups. The collaboration with educational institutions and participation in international projects showcase a concrete commitment to community building.

  2. A.P.S. ETNA: A Social Promotion Association focusing on adolescents and migrants, A.P.S. ETNA has been active since 2006. Specializing in Analytical Ethnopsychology, the association emphasizes the importance of psychological support and counseling in schools. Recognizing the pivotal role of sports in adolescent development, it collaborates with physical education teachers to promote a healthy relationship with the body. A.P.S. ETNA's commitment to multicultural care seamlessly aligns with the goals of BULL...SH!.

  3. VŠĮ SPORTUOKIME KARTU: Operating from Kaunas, Lithuania, VŠĮ SPORTUOKIME KARTU ("LET'S DO SPORT TOGETHER") is a non-profit organization promoting sports and physical activity during leisure time. Concentrating on football, dance, and courses on female leadership, the association fosters healthy habits and interpersonal relationships within families. Their focus on equal participation and inclusion, particularly supporting the LGBTQI+ community, aligns with the ethos of BULL...SH!.

  4. A.T.I.C. ROMANIA: ASOCIAȚIA TINERILOR CU INITIATIVA CIVICA (Association of Young People with Civic Initiative) is an active force in its community, working with disadvantaged youth through sports. Participating in numerous European projects, ATIC ensures that young people from shelter homes and low-income families benefit from transformative experiences, emphasizing the role of sports in social inclusion.

Project Objectives and Goals:

Main Objective: To provide tools to sports associations and coaches for countering bullying in team sports through the application of the "BULL...SH!" method.

Specific Goals:

  1. Promote understanding of bullying dynamics and its psychological implications.

  2. Raise awareness about the role of sports, associations, and coaches in fostering social inclusion.

  3. Provide tools for enhancing coaches' skills in managing groups of adolescents.

BULL...SH! Method:

The project involves the development of materials focused on:

  1. Raising awareness among instructors, operators, and students.

  2. Establishing a framework for responding to bullying incidents.

  3. Creating a shared contract between students, instructors, and parents against bullying.

  4. Developing exercises and activities to encourage teamwork and combat social isolation.

  5. Equipping instructors with tools to improve group management skills, including problem-solving, conflict resolution, team management, and feedback skills through practical activities and simulations.
