Welcome to the inaugural post of the "DO Dropping On" project blog! We are thrilled to embark on this journey aimed at combating voluntary disengagement from sports activities among adolescents. Our project is driven by a passion for inclusivity, social connection, and the transformative power of sports.
Embracing Diversity on the Field
At the heart of the "DO Dropping On" initiative is the belief that sports can be a unifying force, transcending differences and creating a sense of belonging. Led by the sports association ASD SPARTA CALCIO, our project is dedicated to addressing the multifaceted challenges that contribute to adolescent disengagement from sports.
Adolescence is a crucial period for personal development, and unfortunately, factors such as psycho-social distress and social isolation can hinder the ability of young individuals to adapt and feel connected to society. Our project seeks to intervene in this dimension by equipping operators, including sports associations and educators, with the tools needed to prevent and address adolescent distress effectively.
Inclusive Approach and Open Environments
Our approach centers on inclusivity and the creation of open environments that enable adolescents, especially those facing social, economic, psychological, and cultural challenges, to engage harmoniously in sports activities. The "DO Dropping On" project encourages the adoption of best practices for accessible sports, ensuring the involvement of individuals with fewer opportunities, including those from migrant backgrounds, rural or remote areas, and those in socioeconomic difficulty.
Partners in Empowerment
Collaboration lies at the core of our initiative, and we are proud to work alongside organizations committed to fostering inclusion through sports. ASD SPARTA CALCIO sets an inspiring example by providing a platform for diverse individuals to come together, break down barriers, and build new social bonds through a shared love for sports.
Associação Desportiva Trampolimágico from Portugal brings its expertise in organizing inclusive sports and recreational activities, while EUPRAGIA, a non-profit urban society, focuses on sports development and collaborations that extend nationally and internationally.
A Holistic Vision for Community Well-being
Beyond the realm of sports, "DO Dropping On" aims to raise awareness on crucial societal issues. From environmental conservation to energy efficiency, nutrition, health, and social integration, our project strives to contribute to the overall well-being of communities.
This blog will serve as a platform to share insights, stories of empowerment, and updates on the progress of the "DO Dropping On" initiative. Join us on this exciting journey as we empower youth, break down barriers, and create a community founded on equity, equality, and mutual care. Together, let's make a lasting impact on the lives of adolescents through the transformative power of sports!
DO is co funded by the European Union.
