ABSTRACT
The Extreme Generations Dance project brings together grandparents and grandchildren in a recreational sports activity to counteract social exclusion among the elderly, promote more inclusive communities, and contribute to making senior citizens stronger and healthier. Recognizing the demographic shift in Europe towards an increasingly aging population compared to the youth, there is a need for the sports world to offer and advocate for the benefits of physical activity across all age groups, including the elderly phase.
The project has introduced new recreational activities involving grandparents and their grandchildren, along with materials that can be utilized by all sports associations to promote the psychological, social, and physical benefits of sports.
