A European Union Initiative under the Erasmus+ Sport Programme 🇪🇺
The "Trail for a Future" project, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Sport programme, is an innovative initiative aimed at promoting outdoor sports and their social benefits. This project targets economically disadvantaged groups, leveraging sports, nature, and tourism to enhance employability skills.
General Objective
To foster an innovative approach to outdoor sports, highlighting the social benefits of an active lifestyle and providing employability tools through sports, nature, and tourism for socio-economically disadvantaged populations.
Specific Objectives
Promote Outdoor Sports Benefits: Enhance quality of life through outdoor sports while encouraging environmental sustainability practices.
Transfer Skills and Knowledge: Equip participants from disadvantaged backgrounds with skills and knowledge to enhance employability in the outdoor sports sector.
Encourage Interactive Approaches: Foster creative and interactive methods in outdoor sports, promoting activities like hiking and trail running in peripheral and ultra-peripheral regions of Europe.
Key Priorities Addressed
1. Inclusion and Diversity: 🏞️
The project promotes accessible outdoor sports practices, particularly hiking and trail running, which do not require expensive equipment. It aims to engage people with fewer opportunities from peripheral regions, including migrants and those in rural or remote areas.
2. Environment and Climate Action: 🌍
"Trail for a Future" emphasizes the connection between people and their environment, using outdoor spaces as "gyms" to foster sustainable behaviors and environmental stewardship.
3. Digital Transformation: 💻
The project integrates digital technologies into sports education, making training more innovative and engaging across generations. It promotes digital skills and the creation of educational digital content.
4. Common Values, Civic Engagement, and Participation: 🤝
By supporting active citizenship, the project enhances social and intercultural skills, critical thinking, and media literacy. It fosters a sense of European identity and cultural awareness through outdoor sports activities designed by participants for different European locations.
Sport-Related Priorities
The project aligns with the priority to "Promote Education in and through Sport" by developing skills, mentoring, and employability. It also encourages "Healthy Lifestyles for All" through initiatives like Healthy Lifestyles for All and Health Enhancing Physical Activities, promoting sport for health.
Added Value at the EU Level
"Trail for a Future" strengthens the capacity of organizations to engage in cross-border cooperation and network building. It contributes to the EU Work Plan for Sport 2021-2024, promoting sustainable sports practices and digital innovation.
